Tourist Visa |
U.S. citizens traveling to Chile for recreation, on business or to attend conferences or the like do not need a visa to enter Chile and can stay for up to 90 days. There is an reciprocity fee of US$131 that must be payed upon arrival or entrance to Chile. Payment can be made in U.S. currency or by credit card. Citizens of other countries should contact the Chilean Consulate closest to their place of residence (http://chile-usa.org/consular.htm). |
Requirements: - Application must be made in person at the Consulate. - Valid Passport (Valid at least for the term of the visa) - Applications forms (1 and 2) typed and all caps. - Certificate of letter of employment or profession. - Explaintion as to the reason(s) of the trip. - Provide a Letter of Invitation, if applicable. Provide the full name and address of inviting person. - Hotel reservations when there is no contact person in Chile. - Marital status. If you are married to a Chilean citizen or a person of Chilean origin the marriage certificate must be presented. - Visas are granted for a period of 30 to 90 days, according to the nationality of the applicant. Each request is analized on its merits (case by case) by the Chilean authorities. Visa can be extended for a new period in Chile. This extensions are granted by the "Departamento de Extranjería of the Ministerio del Interior" in Santiago.http://www.extranjeria.gov.cl/ - Fees vary according to the nationaliy of the applicant. |

Student Visa |
A Student Visa is required for travelling to Chile to study in Chilean universities or high schools. |
Requirements: - Valid passport. - Application forms (1 and 2) typed and all caps. - Health certificate recently issued and signed by a Doctor stating that the applicant enjoys good health and has no communicable diseases. - HIV / HTLV test issued by a Health Department, Laboratory, or private doctor. - Police Certificate (record) recently issued by Federal Authorities stating that the applicant has no records nationwide. (FBI Background Check). http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/emergencies/emergencies_1201.html - Four (4) color passport photographs (2 x 2 in). - Letter or certificate of financial support (scholarship, bank statement, parents, etc.) - Letter of acceptance from University or School where the applicant will be studying. Documents must be presented in Original Form A visa fee must be paid at the Consulate. Values vary according to the nationality of the applicant. For U.S. Citizens the visa fee is US$131. |

PROCEDURE FOR THE CONSULATE IN WASHINTON, DC: - Send a Copy of your documents, including a copy of the passport picture page to the Consulate by email (consulado@embassyofchile.org) and only if that is not possible, by express mail or courrier. Please state a date of preference for an appointment. Do not mail your passport, money order or return envelope - Visas are never returned by mail. - You will be contacted by email in order to confirm your appoinment. Applicants must appear in person for the stamping of the visa in their passports. - You must attend with the originals of your documents, including your passport. - Please pay only by credit, debid card (Visa or Mastercard) or Money Order. |

Working Visa |
A Work Visa is required for foreigners that wish to work under a labor contract to be fulfilled in Chile. |
Requirements: - Valid passport. A minimum validity of six months required. - Applications forms (1 and 2) typed and all caps. - Health certificate issued by a doctor stating that the apllicant enjoys good health and has no communicable disease. - HIV / HTLV test issued by a Health Department, Laboratory, or private doctor. - Police Certificate issued by Federal Authorities stating that the applicant has no records nationwide. Resident Visa |
For those travelling to Chile with relatives or connections in the country, businessmen, scientists or persons that will reside in Chile for a year or so. |
Requirements: - Valid passport. - Health certificate issued by a doctor stating that the applicant enjoys good health and has no communicable disease. - HIV / HTLV test issued by a Health Department, Laboratory, or private doctor. - Police Certificate issued by Federal Authorities stating that the applicant has no records nationwide. Diplomatic & Official Visas |
Las Visas Oficiales y Diplomáticas son procesadas en un plazo de 4 a 5 días hábiles. En el caso de las solicitudes de Visas Múltiples Entradas, estas requieren más tiempo, ya que deben ser consultadas a Chile. Official and Diplomatic Visas are processed between a window frame of 4 to 5 business days, Multiple Entry Visas can take longer, in order they have to be approved in Chile. |
