Useful information for people traveling to Chile


Applicants should apply for a visa NO LESS THAN TWENTY (20) working days in advance.

Before applying for a visa, please send an email or call the General Consulate or Consulate closest to your State of residence to make an appointment. Contact information can be found at: http://chile-usa.org/consular.htm

Tourist Visa

American citizens traveling to Chile for recreation, on business or to attend conferences or the like do not need a visa to enter Chile. They can stay in the country up to 3 months. There is an admisitrative charge of US$131 that must be payed upon arrival or entrance to Chile.

Student Visa

Students travelling to Chile to study in Chilean universities or high schools.

Working Visa

This visa is granted to foreigners that are in possession of a contract to be fulfilled in Chile.

 

 

 

Resident Visa

People travelling to Chile with relatives or connections in the country, businessmen, scientists or persons that will reside in Chile for a year or so.

 

Diplomatic & Official Visas

U.S. citizens holders of DIPLOMATIC or OFFICIAL passports must request a VISA at the Embassy of Chile to the United States (1732 Massachusetts Avenue. NW.  Washington, D.C. 20036). From 9 am. to 4 pm.

Please note that Visas will be processed within two working days.
