The horses of Verónica Garcia-Huidobro's paintings are presented to us in a spirit of both contemplation and boldness. "I would like to transmit," she says, "with respect and humility towards the spectator, my continuous search for harmonious inner stability with nature and with God." Garcia-Huidobro captures the horse, long a creature associated both with nobility and liberation, as a robust, domesticated companion, but also as a spirit of nature, with its mysteries presented for our consideration in its body and piercing gaze. In her two portraits of a white stallion, subtitled Cold Filter and Warm Filter, respectively, Garcia-Huidobro presents an animal of enigmatic beauty who rises from the canvases' opposing backgrounds with muscular, highly spirited power. Painting is but one aspect of Garcia-Huidobro's passions. Her love of nature has inspired her work in genetics and biology, and her scientist's attention to detail, coupled with her artistic sensitivity, helps create stunning portraits of animals both in their natural and abstract settings. Veronica Garcia-Huidobro donates the proceeds from her paintings' sales to the Corporación Nuestra Casa, a charity organization base in Chile.
