PASSPORTS AND CHILEAN IDENTITY CARDS.

To obtain a passport the following steps must be fulfilled, and the following documentation must be presented:

 

Petitioner must be a Chilean national

 

Chilean National Identification Card (Cédula de identidad) must be shown. If expired, must be obtain together with passport. Fee US$ 9.

 

The previous passport must be presented.

 

In case of not having any Chilean identification, it will be necessary to take fingerprints of both hands to be sent to Chile for filing and further identification of petitioner.

 

Anyone under 18 years of age that requests a passport must have authorization from both parents or from the legal tutor of the minor.

IT IS NESSESARY THAT BOTH PARENTS OR LEGAL TUTORS COME TOGETHER WITH THE MINOR TO THE CONSULATE BECAUSE THIS AUTHORIZATION MUST BE SIGNED BY THE CONSUL.

The new passport fee is US$ 83 (32 pages) and US$ 103 (64 pages).

 

The passports are valid for a period of 5 (five) years.

The regular process may take two or three weeks. A letter of confirmation will be send upon arrival of the requested documents.
